The fibre-optic network has considerably been expanded over the last year. Our clients are increasingly changing their ADSL subscription to this new technology which often is more stable and powerful – from personal experience we can say. If you want to find out if fibre is available at your adress, use this Orange website or the gouvernement’s website. Changing to fibre is free of charges.

Of course we can arrange this for you, including changing the subscription with your provider, and receiving the mechanic. Let us know if you are interested and we are happy to discuss the possibilities.

Yesterday the French government finally published a communiqué de presse to announce that the border restrictions will be cancelled as of Monday the 15th. So, back to the situation before March 18th. However, if you travel from the UK to France, you are obliged to stay in quarantine at home for 14 days. See this link for the official communiqué de presse (pdf file).

Thursday the 7th of May the prime minister Philippe announced a partial loosening of the lockdown as of the 11th of May, depending on whether your department is red or green. This status is based on three criteria: the spreading of the virus, the hospital capacity (intensive care/respiration), and the availability of tests. Our region is green, which means we can go out without the statement up to a 100 kilometres. Shops, markets, small museums will open again, as nursery and elementary schools. You can again visit each other (10 pers. max). As far as restaurants, cafés and cinemas are concerned, the government will decide around the 20th of May. For detail see the links below.

For those who are not in France for the moment no news, the actual restrictions remain valid until June 15th and maybe longer. This does not apply if your French house is your main residence.

Monday evening the 13th of April president Macron announced the extension of the lockdown until May 11th. From that date on the schools and nurseries will be opened gradually. However, universities and the tourism and catering sector will remain closed. All events will be banned until half July.

What are the consequences for us, and for our clients?
We can go out for groceries, for work or for a walk, if you carry a filled-out statement with you. Every time you go out, so luckily now available on smartphones. As far as work is concerned, it has to be work that cannot be done from home, and cannot be postponed. Also, you must protect yourself and the people you work with. However, a lot of construction markets are closed or function as a pickup point for the construction industry (which does not include us). The waste disposal sites are all closed so we cannot deposit garden waste or demolition waste.
Garden maintenance: most of the garden maintenance continues, although adapted. The gardener works solo and the waste stays on the property.
Pools: all public and semi-public pools remain closed by order of the Prefecture until further notice. This does not include private pools.
Projects: if we can get products and/or materials we try to continue all other projects.
